TüKöR - A TRIBUTE TO RELATIONSHIPS, a solo exhibition of paintings and sculptures  by NEERAJJ MITTRA.
Pleased to announce the presence of,. Prof. O.P. Sharma, Eminent Artist, former principal college of art, New Delhi,
Guest of Honour will be Mr. Lakshmi Shankar Bajpai,Station Director,All India Radio,New Delhi

In the exhibition, Neerajj Mittra presents a series of painting and sculptures that trace the artist’s perspective on relationships.
TüKöR is the Hungarian word for Mirror. The artist holds that everything is a mirror. Everyone is a mirror. Every moment is a mirror.
Human being is the ultimate being of introspection. By venturing outwards we venture inwards discovering and unfolding layers of our being.
How we relate to others in essence defines how we relate to our own self. Relationship is one such mirror. This is the subject of art for this exhibition.
The creations denote reflection of I unto I passing through various beings, verbs and occasions.
Neerajj Mittra's collection comprises thirty-two oil paintings & bronze sculptures that will be hung at the gallery with individualised ephemera containing
'art narration'. The narration comprises individual titles for each painting and a few essential of the thousand words they are worth. The idea of the narration
is to convey how every tribute to relationship must begin and end with the prime ingredient of any relationship and its reflection – 'I'.
Neerajj Mittra is a Karnal born, New Delhi-based celebrated multidisciplinary visual artist who has exhibited painting, sculptures and installations in galleries across India and abroad. He has successfully concluded 13 solo shows and a plethora of Group shows, Two Men Shows, Camps and workshops. He was awarded with JENESYS - Scholarship to Japan as an Educator in 2008. He is an alumnus of College of Art, New Delhi.

The winged odyssey - an Artist's Biopic
Tükör has come at a personally critically important juncture for Neeraj. And what better way to commemorate it than a look back at the road that led him here. The Winged Odyssey is the short biopic  on Neeraj Mittra. It is about the mirror through which he chose to look at the world and what he offered to the world to know him.

Debut as a singer-BIRHA

Birha is loneliness induced by love to the lover who is away from his loved one. It is an inevitable and trying moment in every lover's life. Neeraj Mittra's Tükör would have been left incomplete without the echo of music - the reflection of our soul. He presents the music video of his first ever venture into singing. And like his other works of art, this too, is in his own voice, in his own unique way.

A Change For The Better

As you may or may not know, The Best Part is celebrating its 3rd anniversary of finding and publishing
the best of art + design on the web. It's been an amazing experience, I've met or spoken to some of the most
incredible artists in the world and learned a ton in the process. The numbers continue to grow, and my readers
have been incredibly loyal. You guys really are a testament to how far this blog has come in the last three years.

If you have any doubts of the intelligence of the blogosphere and its readers, simply go through my Twitter
followers' list sometime and you'll see what I mean. From artists to designers to illustrators, photographers,
creative directors and musicians, my readers are the very people I feature here every day.
It has also been a ton of work, however, and I'm reaching a point where it's time to focus more of my time and
attention on creating prints and doing some work of my own. With that said, The Best Part will no longer exist
in its current state. While the Blogger platform makes things fairly simple, I'm still spending hours every day
finding, editing and publishing links when my focus should really be on creating prints. Which is why I'll be shifting more content to TBP's Facebook and Twitter accounts, allowing me to continue to share the great work I find daily online without the work and pressure of the daily blog. I will also continue to occasionally post to TBPTV, my online library of video content related to all things creative and inspirational. This blog and its archives will remain online as a resource for anyone who might want to find information on the artists featured here over the years.
So with my last post on this iteration of The Best Part, I'd once again like to say thank you to my readers for three years of continued support and to all the artists who have been featured here; keep up the great work!

EXHIBITION > YOUNG & FREE: Contemporary Australian Street Artists

The YOUNG & FREE exhibition is set to be the biggest ever of it’s kind in America by showcasing the work of 13 very talented young Australian artists. It will be heading to San Francisco in September (and back to Australia early 2012)…

Artists include Anthony Lister, Kid Zoom, Ben Frost, Dabs & Myla, Dmote, Meggs, Rone, Reka, Sofles and Vexta. With sprays, stencils and paste-ups, the pieces in the YOUNG & FREE exhibition are as varied as the artists, their backgrounds, and themselves.

Opening on September 10th at 941 Geary Gallery in San Francisco.

"There are many similarities between Australia and San Francisco: both have famous bridges, internationally established street art cultures and, of course, trams. What is different is our beginnings. Australia’s criminal foundations have seeped into our national persona, Aussies are born with a spirit of rebellion. As the opening lines from our national anthem proclaim, ‘Australians all let us rejoice, for we are Young and Free.’…”

EXHIBITION / The Boneyard Project: ‘Return Trip’ at Pima Air & Space Museum

With the idea behind the show conceived by Eric Firestone, with the help of curator Carlo Mccormick after the successful ‘Nose Job’ exhibition at Eric Firestone Gallery, which included works from Aiko, Bast, Crash, Daze, El Mac, Ron English, Shepard Fairey, Futura, Erik Foss, Tara Mcpherson, Richard Prince, Lee Quinones, Kenny Scharf, and many more.

reALIze: The Muhammad Ali Monument

The monument you see above is the result of a three-year creative journey that began when internationally lauded artist Michael Kalish was approached by Lonnie and Muhammad Ali to create a private original sculpture for them from Kalish’s signature license plate art collection.

This experience provided the inspiration for Kalish to undertake the epic task of creating reALIze. The monument is larger than life, as is Ali’s legacy: an appropriate testament to the essence of the legend the world has come to know, simply, as “The Greatest.”

The breath-taking effect is an enormous, 360-degree, two-story structure composed of five miles of stainless steel, two miles of aluminum tubing, and 1300 boxing speed bags. Viewed from nearly every angle, the result appears to be a massive, boxing-inspired rainstorm — but find the exact right position, and it unexpectedly becomes a 2-D vision of the timeless face of Muhammad Ali.

Conceptualized by Kalish and designed by Kalish and architectural firm Oyler Wu Collaborative, reALIze is the ultimate tribute to the iconic boxing legend.

The unveiling of reALIze is scheduled for March 25, 2011 at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, CA.

Ali Cavanaugh >Neo Fresco Secco

Ali Cavanaugh was born in St. Louis in 1973 and has worked as a professional artist for 15 years. Her compositions are strong and intuitive, thanks not only to being a wife and mother but also to the variations in her experience—such as hearing loss—that made her adapt to and recreate the world around her.

Cavanaugh developed a process best described as neo fresco secco, where she applies watercolor to plaster panels; her figures often are accentuated by stark white negative spaces. Fascinated by the dichotomy of the seen and unseen in the human condition…body and soul…Cavanaugh’s art brings to light the complexity within contemplation. Her signature poetic titles are part of this engaging discourse.

"establish a small area of simplicity" She has had 40+ solo and group exhibitions in galleries throughout the U.S. Cavanaugh’s art has been featured in publications such as New American Paintings no.88, American Art Collector (cover artist), American Artist Watercolor, Watercolor Artist magazine, Southwest Art magazine, International Artist magazine, Art Calendar magazine (cover artist), and The Daniel Smith Art Supply Catalogue. Perhaps because of her work’s infectious energy combined with deep reflection, her collectors are particularly devoted. Her work has received extensive recognition and is featured in more than 300 private and corporate collections throughout the U.S., Canada, England, Portugal, Switzerland, Singapore, and Australia. She now lives in the St. Louis area with her husband and three children.

‘What Came First’ Eggshell'>Kyle Bean

What Came First?’ is the ingenious sculpture of a Chicken made from eggshells created by Kyle Bean; a Brighton based designer that specializes in hand crafted models, prop styling and art direction…

“As you may know I really enjoy visual puns. My new project ‘What came first?’ is a funny take on the well known saying. I thought it would be a nice ironic twist to actually make a chicken from eggs. It has taken a couple of failed attempts and I have eaten quite a few poached eggs and omelettes in the last couple of weeks, but I have finally finished the sculpture. I made good use of my dremel on this one…”

Kyle Bean is a designer specialising in hand crafted models, set design and art direction. Since graduating in 2009, Kyle has worked for a variety of international clients for a diverse range of projects including installations, window displays, editorial illustration and advertising. Kyle’s work has been recognised by the prestigious Art Directors Club in New York and the International Design Biennial held throughout Europe. His work has been featured in a range of international art and design publications, praising him for both his conceptual thinking and craftsmanship. Kyle splits his time between working from his studio by the sea in Brighton and London where he often collaborates with photographers and directors. Kyle is represented by Blinkart.

PORCELAIN SCULPTURE by Kate MacDowell

Kate MacDowell is an amazing sculptor mainly working with the porcelain medium. Her pieces are in part responses to environmental stressors including climate change, toxic pollution, and gm crops.  They also borrow from myth, art history, figures of speech and other cultural touchstones.

“I hand sculpt each piece out of porcelain, often building a solid form and then hollowing it out.  Smaller forms are built petal by petal, branch by branch and allow me the chance to get immersed in close study of the structure of a blossom or a bee.”

“I chose porcelain for its luminous and ghostly qualities as well as its strength and ability to show fine texture.  It highlights both the impermanence and fragility of natural forms in a dying ecosystem, while paradoxically, being a material that can last for thousands of years and is historically associated with high status and value.”

“I see each piece as a captured and preserved specimen, a painstaking record of endangered natural forms and a commentary on our own culpability.”

Anna Wili Highfield>The Paper sculpturist

Anna-Wili Highfield is a Sydney based artist currently making sculptures of animals from paper and from copper pipe. The paper sculptures are created from archival cotton paper, that is painted, then sewn together, to create the figure of an animal. The copper pipe is bent and manipulated to create sculptural forms reminiscent of line drawings.

Ana has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National Arts School, Sydney NSW.

She has worked for Opera Australia as a scenic artist for several years.

She works almost entirely by commission.

Her commercial clients include Carla Zampatti,  Bianca Spender, Anthropologie and Hermes. However, Anna-Wili’s pieces have predominantly been commissioned by private clients, both within Australia and around the world.

Her sculptures have appeared in publications in The UK, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Hungary, Russia , Israel, Turkey, South Africa, Mexico, Argentina, The USA, Korea, China, and Australia.

Dino Valls>Spanish Artist

Dino Valls is a Spanish painter born in 1959 in Zaragoza. Since 1988, he has lived and worked in Madrid.

Building on a childhood passion for drawing, Valls taught himself to paint in oils beginning in 1975. After completing his degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Zaragoza in 1982, Valls devoted himself full-time to the profession of painting.

As one of the Spanish representatives of the vanguard of figurative art, Valls' work displays the strong influence of past masters and their studies of the human being. In the early '90s, Valls began studying the use of egg tempera, adapting and customizing the techniques of Italian and Flemish masters from the fifteenth to seventeenth centuries to create new works in combinations of tempera and oil. His paintings elaborate and expand upon the methods of past masters, employing formal figurative techniques as the medium through which to explore the human psyche in a conceptual framework laden with profound psychological weight and symbolism.

Valls has participated in important international exhibitions of contemporary art, and has held numerous showings in Europe and the United States.
